The Post
 
Brent Housing Management Service is leading the way in transforming council services. We are aiming to deliver contemporary, digital and seamless services which really work for our customers. We are pushing forward fast to improve services by providing our staff with the tools they need to deliver and you can be part of the exciting change programme.
 
As a Leasehold Finance Officer you will work to deliver an effective income collection and recovery service in accordance with legislation, policies, performance standards / targets and customer satisfaction requirements for Leaseholders.
 
You will effectively maintain the service charge and major works database making accurate changes to customer accounts and records.
 
The Person
 
We are looking for exceptional people to take customer service to the next level for Brent’s Leasehold Services.
 
You should be able demonstrate knowledge of housing and service charges legislation and the legal process which govern the resolution of disputes and have an understanding of S20 consultation processes.
 
You must have knowledge of one of the following housing acts or legalisation and how they pertain to leasehold management:
Right to buy and LVT procedures
Landlord and Tenant Act 1985
Leasehold management legislation
Common-Hold and leasehold reform act 2003
 
You should have prior experience of working in a leasehold finance environment. Having experience with major works and service charges billing preparation is also ideal.
 
Key Points for candidates:
  • You must have the ability to undertake a variety of mathematical and statistical calculations.
  • You must have the ability to take responsibility for decision making within the remit of the job.
  • You must demonstrate the ability to be solution-focused, taking responsibility and action to promote great customer service
  • You must have the ability to interpret and explain to a range of audiences. This may be about relevant legislations and complex legal documents such as leases.
  • You must be able to demonstrate the ability to work as a team towards common goals.
  • You must have the ability to work “on the go” using mobile technology.
  • The ideal candidate should be High self-motivated with the ability to plan work effectively without being supervise.
