The Post

This is a customer facing role which means direct contact with customers with a view to providing a tailor made advice service on the best way of resolving customers housing issues. The successful candidate’s day to day duties will involve assessing, investigating and verifying customers’ housing needs under part 6 of the housing act 1996 and managing a large caseload on customers on the Housing Register. This role will include carrying out home visits, telephone duties and office interviews in order to determine customers housing needs.

The Person

The ideal candidate for this position should have a high standard of literacy and numeracy skills and have excellent customer service. The successful candidate will also have to manage a large and demanding caseload of customers who apply to the Council for housing assistance, so it is vital that he or she possess excellent organisation skills and be able to effectively prioritise their working schedule accordingly.

Key Points for Candidates

A good understanding of relevant housing legislations and policies.

Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing with a wide range of people, including customers, Councillors, MPs and other advocate agencies.

A ‘Can do’ positive approach to work with the ability of finding creative ways of delivering results which go beyond what is expected wherever possible.

Problem solving and decision making - ability to deal with complex cases and situations within a busy environment and achieve positive outcomes.
